Bioaugmentation Products for Wastewater Treatment
To comply with increasingly stringent legislation constraints, organisations are spending millions of pounds on construction and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants. The benefits of these investments, however, will not be fully realised unless the most fundamental treatment parameter is properly addressed. Effective biological treatment relies not only on good system design engineering, but primarily on the presence of the appropriate bacterial populations to degrade undesirable compounds in the waste. If sufficient numbers of the required organisms are not available during start-up and operation, the ability of a plant to meet effluent quality requirements is significantly reduced. Maintenance and consent discharge costs can escalate. The use of specialised adapted bacteria for seeding and maintenance is a cost-effective way of ensuring increased biological process stability and improved general plant performance.
